Lifting up our Community

Pride Northwest is best known for the annual Portland Pride Waterfront Festival and Parade, and for most folks that is where their knowledge of what we do and who we are ends. Pride Northwest, a 501c3 charitable nonprofit organization focused on bringing visibility to the contributions of and issues impacting the LGBTQ+ community of Oregon and SW Washington, is active year-round.

Pride Northwest supports a variety of community organizations and efforts, including the Imperial Sovereign Rose Court, the Audria M. Edwards Scholarship Fund (Peacock in the Park), and community Pride celebrations around the region, among others. In addition, we sponsor the annual Oregon Queer Students of Color Conference and the Queer Youth Summit. Finally, we support various efforts including the Equi Institute, the Portland Pride Collective, incarcerated LGBTQ+ youth, and more! Below are just a few of the organizations we are proud to sponsor and a little about who they are:

  • Northwest Gender Alliance (NWGA): Founded in 1980, the NWGA serves the Transgender Community in and around Portland. They provide valuable resources and safe gathering spaces for individuals and families throughout the Portland Metro and Vancouver area. We are proud to support these incredible individuals as they continue to bring education and support. For more information about NWGA, please visit http://nwgenderalliance.org/.

  • Greater Portland Trans Unity: Greater Portland Trans Unity is a diverse and non-hierarchical collective of organizers from across the trans spectrum. They utilize a consensus-driven process, designed to centralize the voices of those most impacted by transphobia and racism. This wonderful group of folks are responsible for the annual Trans Pride March, which takes place during Pride weekend and their group grows every year! • Columbia Gorge Pride: The Columbia Gorge Pride Alliance was created to provide a safe environment for the LGBTQ+ community. The folks who organize the Columbia Gorge Pride work, live and play in the Columbia Gorge of Oregon and Washington. They strive to bring together the LGBTQ+ community throughout the Columbia Gorge and to let them know they are not alone and it is OK to be who you are. Their hope is to see social and legal equality exist for LGBTQ+ citizens in the Gorge and they will continue to eradicate prejudice regardless of a person's sexual identity. • PDX Latinx Pride: Founded in 2006, the mission of PDX Latinx Pride is “to bring our community together to share and celebrate our diverse and evolving Latina, Latino, and Latinx cultures, experiences and identities by creating safe events for our queer and LGBTQ family”. For more information about PDX Latinx Pride, please email pdxlatinxpride@gmail.com.

Pride doesn’t stop at the end of June, and neither do we! There are several ways that you can be involved with Pride Northwest and show your pride all year long!
