Staying Safe From COVID-19 During Portland Pride 2022

When COVID-19 first hit the world two years ago, and we realized the Portland Pride Waterfront Festival and Parade would have to be canceled, we questioned what it would mean for LGBTQIA2S+ people. What does it look like for our community to not be as visible? To be isolated?

Pride Northwest has put tremendous effort into fighting against the isolation that affects so much of our community. Doing so without holding Oregon and SW Washington’s largest LGBTQIA2S+ cultural celebration has been a challenge, to say the least. But now it's time to come back together, to celebrate, and to be visible! We can’t wait to give the LGBTQIA2S+ community of the Portland, Oregon area the opportunity to shine with Pride this June when the Portland Pride Waterfront Festival and Parade returns in person!

To be able to hold this event, we must take certain precautions to ensure everyone's safety and keep our community healthy. Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 will be required for festival attendees five years or older. *Vaccine cards will be checked at all Waterfront Festival entrances. Proof of vaccination can be either a physical card or a photo of said card. Attendees will be required to either have gotten a complete series of COVID-19 vaccine shots within the six months before the Pride event (January to June 2022) or have simply gotten your COVID-19 booster shot at any time. Attendees should plan to complete their COVID-19 vaccines two weeks prior to Pride weekend, to ensure maximum community safety.

These rules are necessary to ensure that we are able to best protect our community. If you are unable to wear a mask or be vaccinated for any reason, we regretfully ask you not to attend this year’s event for your own safety and the safety of those around you.

All of the precautions possible are being implemented to ensure the health and safety of everyone attending this year's event and our community as a whole. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to this year’s Pride, which will surely be a fantastic celebration!
