LGBTQIA2S+ Community Impact
Pride is Community! Community RESILIENCE PROGRAM
In addition to direct emergent community needs like rental and utilities support and food security, in our role as an intermediary nonprofit organization, Pride Northwest supports and serves as a connector between resources and grassroots initiatives and advocates, who are working on the ground to address (and meet) community needs. This support includes funding, technical assistance, capacity-building, networking opportunities, and more to support those organizations in maximizing their impact, intentionally working to center the perspectives and efforts of Black, Indigenous and Queer People of Color community organizers. Over the last four years, our efforts have included sponsoring over 50 (non-Pride Northwest) community events, fiscally sponsoring several LGBTQIA2S+ grassroots and Pride organizations, providing end-of-life funding for two community members, employing hundreds of LGBTQIA2S+ artists and performers (including during the pandemic shutdown), and providing economic opportunities for dozens of LGBTQIA2S+ makers and artisans.
Grassroots Support
Pride Northwest strongly believes in supporting our community in a number of ways. One way is direct fiscal support for several grassroots organizations around the region. We use our years of experience and access to resources, to serve as the fiscal sponsor for Trans Unity (organizers of the Portland Trans Pride March and more), the Northwest Gender Alliance (one of the oldest transgender organizations in the country), and Latinx Pride (organizers of the Portland Latinx Pride Festival).
