George T. Nicola LGBTQ+ History Fellowship
Pride Northwest was honored to help GLAPN launch the George T. Nicola LGBTQIA2S+ History Fellowship in 2018. For more information about the Fellowship and how to apply, please visit the GLAPN website at www.glapn.org
The Fellowship honors the untiring work of local community historian George T. Nicola, and seeks to uplift LGBTQ+ scholarship, foster public access to LGBTQ+ archives and illuminate the vibrant LGBTQ+ history of the state of Oregon.
Awarded annually, recipients receive a $2,000 stipend to support research which focuses on LGBTQ+ history in Oregon. Awardees also receive mentorship and guidance from community and academic historians around the region.
Awards are announced in January with final projects presented at a public celebration the following October.
GLAPN works to collect, preserve, document, and share as much as we are able. We help individuals and groups preserve their own historical data. We try to find a home for historically significant materials when they become available. We also gladly partner with organizations in the community to publicize and celebrate the history of all LGBTQ-identified minorities in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.
