Spooktacular, Spooktacular!

  • 4434 Southeast 25th Avenue Portland, OR, 97202 United States (map)

Come celebrate the creepiest holiday of the year in a safe and welcoming environment with Spooktacular Spooktacular Halloween Extravaganza at the newly opened Marie Equi Institute on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 12-4 p.m. This is an all-ages event (minors must bring an adult) and admission is free (registration at door) but we LOVE and APPRECIATE all donations. You can donate the day of or even right now via Venmo @PDXSisters.

There will be games galore and activities aplenty for you and the little ones including apple on a string, giant Jenga, cornhole, kids’ activities table, and mini pumpkin decorating.

2024 titleholders Ms. Portland Gay Pride, Nicole Onoscopi; Mr. Portland Gay Pride Kherry O’Kay; and Mx. Portland Gay Pride Cruz Daniels will also be on hand to wow and delight you with their unique take on the art of drag, including spooky story time.

Be a little wary while you’re there as local cryptid Portland Sleestak will be lurking in dark corners to elicit chills and squeals. If you ask nicely, he’ll hug you and even take photos with you.

Looking to luxuriate in the fall season and curl up with a lengthy tome and read the day away? Award winning Little Free Diverse Library steward, DEI champion, and alphabet community ally Wendy Shih will be handing out diverse books from her mobile version of Our Little Free Diverse Library.

Healthy snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, sweet treats, and a trick or two will round out the spell for a magickal time for all.

This event also commemorates the grand opening of the Marie Equi Center located at 4434 Se 25th Ave. in Portland, Ore. This is a great opportunity for you to check out this new space created to provide holistic, community-centered support for unhoused and low-income LGBTQAI2S+ folks in a safer, accessible, and affirming environment.

Spooktacular Spooktacular is a collaboration between the Portland Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the Marie Equi Center, and Pride Northwest. It was made possible via funding through a micro grant from the San Francisco Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Inc. and the Ford Foundation. Healthy fruit and vegetable snacks donated by Caruso Produce.
