Pride Northwest and Gather:Make:Shelter Present: PRISM: A Queer Collective
Pride Northwest and Gather:Make:Shelter are thrilled to announce a collaboration to bring the art and creative talents of our queer and trans communities experiencing houselessness to the Portland Pride Waterfront Festival.
PRISM: A Queer Collective will be unveiled at the Pride Waterfront Festival (June 18-19). On Saturday the 18th, a pavilion centering works of art produced by our unhoused community members will be featured and available for sale by the artists themselves.
On Sunday the 19th the Pavilion will be transformed into a runway, setting the stage for a fashion show of wearable art made by Gather:Make:Shelter project participants over the last 6 months. This show was conceived by villager and member of the Gather:Make:Shelter Collective, Starburst, and involves collaborations with nearly 20 people.
Gather:Make:Shelter and Pride Northwest have been collaborating in support of the health and welfare of LGBTQIA+ people who are experiencing houselessness since the onset of the pandemic, first through the C3PO Village Project and now, through coordinated efforts to ensure access to everything from basic necessities to life-affirming activities. Our projects and collaborative efforts exist to bring people together to do extraordinary things and celebrate the talented, tenacious, and wonderful humans we have the honor to work with in hopes of supporting people in going beyond surviving to thriving.
